Step 1
Tow a car behind an RV safely so that you'll have transportation for errands and sightseeing while on your trips. This allows you to keep your RV hooked up at your campsite and not disturb your living quarters while on your trip.

Step 2
Consider a tow hitch for towing a car behind an RV. A tow hitch mounts to the front bumper and frame of the car. It's in a V shape with a coupler on the end. The coupler normally takes a 2-inch ball on the RV. It also has safety chains that attach to the RV. Make sure when you tow a vehicle that the gear of the towed vehicle is in neutral position so the wheels will turn freely.

Step 3
Know that safety chains and lights are extremely important when you tow a car behind an RV. Safety chains should be crisscrossed when towing a car behind an RV. If the coupler of the tow hitch comes loose from the RV and the chains are crisscrossed, this allows the car to track behind the vehicle straight instead of side to side. Check all brake lights and turn signals of your RV and towed vehicle before getting on the road.

Step 4
Use a car dolly as another alternative when you tow a car behind an RV. A car dolly has two wheels, a single bar that attaches to the RV and safety chains. Pull the towed vehicle up on the car dolly and it sets in between the wheels. You have straps that go over the wheels. The straps clamp to the dolly.
